Common Questions and Comments

How come we should care about play with school age children?
-Geoff
Play is an essential part of childhood that provides many opportunities for spontaneous learning. Through play, children develop skills that they need to grow and mature, learn about the world, and experience meaningful life lessons.

How do I make sure that the children are learning from all the different types of play?
-Ann
Observing the children is a great way to make sure that they are learning something from all the different types of play that they can be involved in. Another way would be engaging them in certain types of play yourself. Ask the children if they want to pretend to be dinosaurs or if they want to play tag with you. You can play with them or just start them on the activity/game and then step away to observe them.
