Open-Ended Question
Scenario:
Jessica wants to play tag with three boys outside in the field. They tell her that she cannot play because she is a girl and the game is for boys only. Jessica is upset and comes to you about what the boys had said.

Page 2

Here is an example of a possible answers for the questions on the previous page.

    Possible answers:

1) I would explain to the boys that both girls and boy can play equally in any games or activities. I would give them different examples of how girls have played in the same types of games as boys have and vice versa. I would answer any questions that they have about boys or girls playing together.

2) I would talk to Jennifer about how it can be upsetting and that I understand why she doesn’t feel included. I would explain to her what I talked to the boys about and suggest that she could start her own game and invite boys and girls to play with her. This could give an opportunity for the boys to realize that they can actually play games with girls too.
