"Should sign language be used with children who have a speech delay?"
Sure! It really depends on the child and their needs. Teaching sign language does not delay speech development any more than teaching any language might. I recommend going back through the following pages of the training for more information:
"I was always told that only members of the Deaf community can teach ASL. Is that true?"
Yes and no. While it is always preferred to learn ASL from a member of the Deaf community or in a formal setting with a qualified instructor, you can still teach sign language to children!
