Wax Museum

Age Group: 
  • School-age​ (Grade 5)
Objectives:
  • Students will present information through research about a different culture
Washington Common Core State Standard:
CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.SL.5.4
Report on a topic or text or present an opinion, sequencing ideas logically and using appropriate facts and relevant, descriptive details to support main ideas or themes; speak clearly at an understandable pace.
Materials: 
  • Research materials
  • Assorted materials to create a costume and presentation
Procedure: 
  1. Have students read a book about a culture or person from another culture of their choosing.
  2. Next, students should research the culture and develop a presentation about the culture including the following components:​
    1. ​Food
    2. Dress
    3. Holidays
    4. Language
  3. Students should develop a costume and props as well as a display to give a “wax museum” presentation about their studied culture.
Assessment: 
  • Assess the presentation of ideas in written and oral form.
This is assignment 6 of 7 .
